Crossing the Gulf, they landed in Indianola, reassembling their wagon before reaching Driftwood. There, Bettie, using the same method still employed today, slow-cooked meat over coals. Fast forward to 1967, Thurman Roberts, fueled by a family tradition of delicious barbeque, transformed the dream into reality. What started as a small venture with Thurman cooking meat for paying customers on a homemade pit has evolved into The Salt Lick we know today.
